Location Painting

This was my final project for Painting I. Students were required to find a specific location with which we imagined would be a proper fit for our painting. My painting was inspired by the late artist, Kurt Cobain, and my site was at Viretta Park in Seattle, WA whereas the artist spent much of his time. I chose this particular location as I wanted to make commentary on the exploitation of artists and how people try to profit off of them even after they pass - This bench was once a memorial for Kurt Cobain, however, it was sold in an auction. Therefore, I believed this site was fitting for my message. I wanted this painting to serve as a reminder that we should take care of our artists while they are alive.
