Abstract Masterclass

Abstract #1

Abstract #2

During this 3-day Masterclass, I had the unique opportunity to learn from multidisciplinary artist Ashante Kindle, alongside my peers from Belmont University and members of the local community. Throughout the workshop, Ashante shared insights into her creative process, particularly how she harnesses the power of mark-making in her abstract artwork. We were encouraged to brainstorm and experiment with new techniques, allowing us to explore different approaches in our own practice. After honing our skills on smaller canvases, we moved on to create two larger final pieces. For my artwork, I incorporated a variety of unconventional materials, including a hair comb, hair styling strips, and a selection of gemstones and crystals, adding texture and depth to my abstract compositions.
